DIY Halloween Monster Door

Monster door dec from street

I am all ready for my first ever Trick or Treaters! In an effort to make my house extra festive, I invited this monster to make his home on my house for the week. Isn’t he just the cutest???

Monster Door Decoration

This was a super easy project that only requires items commonly found in a dollar store.

Needed supplies:

  • Paper Streamers
  • 2 Plastic plates
  • Black Sharpie
  • Construction Paper
  • Rubber dish gloves
  • Tape

First I cut a bunch of streamers to the length of my window. Using masking tape, I taped the streamers to the inside of the door.

For teeth, I cut large rectangles in varying sizes out of yellow construction paper. Using masking tape I stuck the teeth to the inside of the door. I used a little scotch tape (so it wasn’t so obvious on the glass) to make sure the bottom teeth stayed upright.

The eyes are simply two plastic plates that I colored with a black sharpie. I painted over the marker with some silver nail polish to give the monster’s eyes a little shimmer.

Finally, I found these kitchen gloves in the clearance bin at Dollar General and realized they were just what I needed to finish off my door monster. I stuffed some newspaper into the gloves to add a little more life to the limp fingers, then taped them onto the house. As you can see, my tape is pretty obvious, but I’m hoping people won’t notice it once its dark.

Oh and of course I made my door monster his own locket to wear!

What do you think? I think decorating is a festive little charm of the season. This monster not only makes my house the cutest on the block, but his locket is possibly one of the cutest lockets I have ever worn.
