Each year, Origami Owl gathers together all of its designers for a weekend of training, inspiration, and product reveals. This gathering usually takes place in July in some major city of America. In the past we’ve gone to Phoenix, Orlando, Chicago, and Savannah. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Origami Owl Convention 2020 looked a little different than those of the past.
Once upon a time… Convention was supposed to look like this:
But thanks to the pandemic, it ended up looking like this:
Considering my mom and I had already purchased plane tickets and a hotel room, we decided to continue with our travel plans to Nashville and just watch the virtual Convention from our hotel room. Though it was impossible to live up to the excitement of real convention, Origami Owl still did a fabulous job of providing training, recognition, and product reveals over a series of live video sessions. That’s right! Origami Owl has *finally* scored a license deal with THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY! The first Disney collection won’t be revealed until later this fall, but I’m dreaming big and expecting lots of magical pieces!
Fall Collection Sneak Peak
We got a little sneak peek at the upcoming Fall collection. As always, its filled with lots of warm tones, cutie patootie charms (case and point: that duck charm), and dreamy celestial and travel themed pieces.
Incentive Trip Reveal
Origami Owl always takes time out of a general session to announce the yearly incentive trip and explain how to earn it. This year, designers can earn a trip to the white sandy beaches of Clearwater Beach WITH a one day excursion to Disney World!
In addition to these exciting announcements, we received training from fellow designers, inspirational speeches from the founders, recognized the top sellers, and participated in a few virtual dance parties. It didn’t even touch the energy levels of actual convention, but it was an interesting weekend of streaming new content amidst the monotony of quarantine. And we did stream it from our hotel room in Nashville, so of course we did some sightseeing in between sessions- that helped things feel a little more normal.
